Coastal Scents 88 Palette

I finally caved and recently purchased the 88 Palette from Coastal Scents. I bought mine on amazon for $18.95 and it came really well packaged. I've heard quite a few people say that their palette arrived with a few cracked shadows, but all of the shadows were in perfect condition when I got mine. I got the matte palette so it was about a dollar cheaper than the shimmer palette. So far I really love the pigmentation on most of the colors, and with a primer they show up even more vibrant. They are slightly chalky, but for the price I'd say it's not going to be the greatest quality in the world. I'm really enjoying experimenting with all the different colors though, and this definitely gives me a lot more options now.

Almay Oil- Free Eye Makeup Remover Pads (Rating: 8/10)

-acclaimed as the #1 eye makeup remover in America
-comes in two types: oil free and moisturizing (the one i’m reviewing is the oil free one)
- the regular size comes with 100 pads, however the bigger size comes with 120.
- contains aloe, cucumber, and green tea extracts
-dermatologist tested
- Fragrance free, hypoallergenic, opthamologist tested

Claims:
-removes waterproof mascara with no irritation
-conditions, hydrates, and soothes skin
-okay to use if you wear contacts
- leaves no greasy residue

Review:
First let me clue you in on about what I wear on my eye on a regular basis. Usually, I will just apply liquid liner and a coat of waterproof mascara. On some days I will wear eyeshadow with a primer. One thing that this eye makeup remover claims to do is to remove waterproof mascara with no problems, however I found that it was rather hard to remove completely. I had to rub over my lashes too many times and a little too hard to get it to erase all the mascara. I had no problems with getting eyeliner or eyeshadow off though. What I do like about this eye makeup remover is that it is not at all stinging on my eyes. It feels refreshing and cool to your eyelids. One thing I did however notice is that if you accidentally get some of the product in your eyes, it will make you tear up slightly but that goes away shortly after. There is also a slight greasy residue, but once you wash your face afterwards, it is all gone and your eye area feels moisturized. What I usually do is use one of these pads to get the majority of my eye makeup off from both eyes, and then I clean my face with water to get rid of the extra mascara still on my lashes. This system works pretty well for me. What I really like is that this product lasts me a pretty long time, doesn’t break the wallet, and it’s really convenient to use.

Verdict:
Definitely would repurchase this item! Very easy to use and very inexpensive!

Nail Color of the Day!

I'm wearing OPI's "what's with the cattitude?" from the Shrek collection on my nails right now. It's a gorgeous light blue color and it's perfect for the spring and summer. I still wear it even though it's Fall because I just love this color so much!

EOS (Evolution of Smooth) Lip Balm (Rating 6/10)

Details:
-price:$3.50
-sold at walgreens, cvs, rite aid, kroger
-comes in 5 scents: honeysuckle honeydew, summer fruit, sweet mint, lemon drop w/ spf15, and medicated tangerine (the one I have is the honeydew one)
-egg shaped
-usda organic
-95% organic and 100% natural
-contains shea butter, vitamin e, jojoba oil,
-paraben and petrolatum free

Claims:
-gives a long lasting moisture
-moist, soft, and smooth lips

Review:
So I had heard a lot about this lip balm in the beauty community and thought I’d try one out, so I went to my local walgreens to purchase one.
One thing that I noticed immediately was the shape of the lip balm. It comes in a egg- like shape and twists open. A great thing about the packaging is that I could easily find it in my purse because of its odd shape. However, the egg shape could be a bad thing if you wanted to fit this in your pocket. Another thing I really liked about it was the smell. The honeydew scent was really strong and even after I applied it to my lips I could smell it. It smells delicious!!
Now, onto the negatives. There was really nothing special about the moisturizing qualities of this lip balm. I really feel that other organic lip balms like Burts Bees or Soft Lips do a better job at moisturizing and leaving my lips soft. With this lip balm I found myself having to reapply way too often in order to keep my lips moisturized. That was quite disappointing for me. Moisturizing ability is just average for me. Another negative was after about two uses, the lip balm actually detached from the base, so I had to carefully place it back. After reattaching it, I haven’t had any problems with it so far. Another negative is that there is no spf on the honeysuckle honeydew scent. According to their website, they only have spf for their newest scent, lemon drop.

Verdict:
I would not repurchase this item. Why? I find that there are other organic lipbalms out there like the Burts Bees that can do a better job at moisturizing my lips and is less expensive.

Rimmel London Glam Eyes Professional Liquid Liner (Rating: 8/10)

Details:
-price: around $6-7 at most stores
-color: black
-brush tip applicator
-0.11 fl. oz (3.5 ml)

Review:
pros:
-easy control of the brush
-can create very thin and precise lines easily, but you could also create a thicker line as well
-very very black and pigmented
-doesn't dry very fast so you can easily wipe away mistakes
-does not flake off
-has long staying power. I've worn it for a whole day from morning to night
-is easily removable with eye makeup remover

cons:
-doesn't dry very fast so if you touch your eye it could smear

Verdict:
This product is definitely a good buy, but there are other liquid eyeliners such as the loreal intense felt tip liquid eyeliner that are similar or better. I would not repurchase, but it is a decent product for the price.

Laneige Strawberry Yogurt Peeling Gel

Rating: 9/10

Details:
This peeling gel is a light pink color with bits of strawberry seeds in it which are used as exfoliants. This product is described as a 2-step dead cell care which includes cellulose peeling and enzyme peeling. This can be used for all skin types and it claims that you will have smooth and radiant skin after use.

Claims:- Smooth and radiant skin
- Dead Cell Care

Instructions:

Squeeze about a nickel size of the product (as shown above) onto your face and smooth it out all over your face. Gently massage the product into your face for about a minute or two and you should start to see chunks of either product or dead skin coming off your face. Now there’s been a lot of debate as to whether the chunks are actually dead skin or just the product rolling into chunks, but I personally believe they are dead skin matter (as shown above) because I see less of it if I use this more often. Now all you need to do is wash the product off your face and you’re done! Use about 2-3 times a week.

Review

After I use this product, I suggest always using a moisturizer because it tends to dry out your face a little bit. As for the scrubbing aspect of this product, I think it does a great job at removing dead skin and dirt from your pores. It doesn’t really leave my skin that soft, but it does a great job at removing flaky skin. Keep in my mind that I have very dry skin on my face. I noticed that after I started using this product regularly, new acne problems have not been coming up on my face which is definitely a plus! The scrub is not at all abrasive to your skin so I would say you could use this product more than 2-3 times a week. Not nearly as abrasive as the St. Ives Apricot Scrub.
The smell is also a plus! It smells just strawberry yogurt! Sooo yummy I want to eat it, but of course I stop myself!

Verdict:

I would definitely repurchase this item. It is kind of pricey for a scrub/peeling gel, but it’s also worth the money. It’s great for sensitive skinned people like myself and it works on all skin types.
